Club Monaco Moving into the Footwear Market

by Kaycee Hale

Fashion retailer Club Monaco has decided to expand its merchandise marketing mix. This polished upscale clothier is getting into the shoe design marketplace. This international lifestyle brand offers affordable luxury with a modern sensibility. Club Monaco is set to launch its first footwear line in August 2013.

Club Monaco appeals to the creative consumer–a group of cultural influencers who mix fashion must-haves with timeless classics. Their brand represents a distinctly urban-casual point of view, best defined as a sophisticated play of opposites: mixing vintage with new, hard with soft, and eclectic with minimal.

In addition to men’s and women’s apparel, they carry handbags, belts, scarves, wraps, hats, jewelry, sunglasses, hosiery, and they have an awesome array of home, books, and stationery items.

According to WWD, there will be at least 25 shoe designs in their footwear collection. From smoking slippers to booties and pumps, plus pointed-toe flats, the fabrications will include python, suede, pony hair, and metallic leathers.

The shoe collection will be manufactured in Italy and will hit Club Monaco’s Toronto Bloor Street location first. Remember–the retailer was founded in Toronto in 1985. It’s expected to be sold later in their Fifth Avenue and SoHo NYC stores. If that’s not exactly in your hood, then check their website to view and purchase a few pairs.

Expected shoe design price range–$198 to $395.
