Fashion & Shoe Designers Fall For Flats

by Kaycee Hale

It’s all over the fashion news with big, bold apparel industry headlines and interesting articles about the topic. Fashion designers are championing flats lately, says UK Daily Mail. Dolce and Gabbana and Armani sent models down the catwalk in flats, says another press release. And yet another flat out stated, “We’re all over high heels”.

Don’t throw them away or donate them to Goodwill just yet, but you might want to stick your stilettos in the back of the closet for awhile.

Here are some of the favorite styles making their way from the runway to the chic streets.

Brogues. Footwear Design Company: Pull & Bear. Born in the ‘90s, Pull & Bear aren’t ones to suffer stereotypes. With a big nod to street style, Pull & Bear go for an androgynous look, adding grunge influences and cool, sportier elements across a laidback and easy-wearing collection of denim, coatigans, and skater dresses. $59.28.

Ballet Flats. Shoe Designer: Dolce & Gabbana. Retailer: Saks Fifth Avenue. Equal parts luxurious and practical, this shimmering brocade embleshed with ornate crystals ballet flat has a pointy-toe and leather lining and sole. $745.

Loafers. Footwear Design Company: Biella. Retailer: J.Crew. Borrowed from the guys and finished with a timeless tassel detail—consider this shoe selection an irrestible expression of la dolce vita.
